Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly agreed an improved contract with the club, according to BBC Sport. The new deal is said to include a pay increase on his current £10million annual salary plus £5m in bonuses, and is expected to keep him in charge until at least 2029.
Arteta's contract talks
Arteta, who has been in charge since December 2019, entered the final year of his existing contract. The 44-year-old ended Arsenal's 22-year wait for the Premier League title last season and also led the club to the Champions League final.
The precise length of the new deal is unknown, but it is claimed it will take him into his 10th year at the helm. Last week, Arteta dismissed concerns about his future, saying: "They [the fans] don't have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. I'm extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with."
Salmon injury blow
Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Marli Salmon has withdrawn from international duty due to an unspecified injury. The 17-year-old was named in the England U18 squad for their upcoming games against Colombia, Egypt and South Korea as part of the UEFA Friendship Cup in Switzerland.
The England squad lists state that Salmon has withdrawn through injury and been replaced by Chelsea's Gabriel Sambou in Will Antwi's side. Salmon has yet to play for England U18s but was involved in last year's U17 World Cup.
He started Arsenal's Carabao Cup victory over Ipswich Town earlier this month and was in the Champions League matchday squad against Napoli, while also featuring three times for the club's U21 side this term. The teenager has played five first team games under Arteta since making his debut in December 2025.
