Angela Rayner took to the DJ decks at two Labour conference afterparties in Liverpool on Monday night, entertaining crowds with a blend of 80s synth, 90s Eurodance and contemporary Ibiza tracks.
The housing secretary first appeared at the Tonight Josephine cocktail bar for Mainstream, the Labour group that helped put Andy Burnham on course to become prime minister. She then headed to the Oktoberfest-themed Bierkeller to perform at a DJ and karaoke night organised by party news website LabourList.
Set list and fellow performers
At the LabourList event, Rayner stepped into the booth after fellow MP Dawn Butler, who had been playing reggae favourites. Butler was reportedly still recovering from her annual Jamaica Party, which ended around 3am on Monday morning.
Rayner's playlists were described by someone on her team as 'a nice blend of 80s synth, 90s Euro dances – and contemporary Ibiza bangers'. Her Mainstream set included tracks such as Go by The Chemical Brothers and Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat, while her LabourList set featured Set You Free by N-Trance and Silence (feat. Sarah McLachlan) by Delerium.
Previous DJ appearance
This is not the first time Rayner has tried her hand at DJing. In August 2024, less than two months after Labour won the general election, she was spotted at the Hï Ibiza club on the Balearic island, where she played a remix of Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know in a video captured by actor and TV presenter Denis Van Outen.
Rayner is expected to deliver her conference speech on the main stage at 11.40am.
