Amanda Owen has given fans an update on her ex-husband Clive Owen's recovery during a repeat broadcast of Our Farm Next Door, airing today. Amanda told viewers that Clive had made his way back to the farm following his hip surgery because he had "lost his crutches". The episode comes after Clive marked his "last day" on the farm for a while.
Clive returns to the farm without crutches
"It has been a few weeks since Clive had his hip operation," she explained. "He has dumped the crutches, he's lost his crutches, actually. It puts him in a bit of a better humour when he can come outside and be a part of what is going on."
The mother-of-nine went on to say, "It has been very frustrating for him; that is me being polite," she added.
'You have been unbearable'
Speaking directly to Clive, Amanda then declared, "You have been unbearable," prompting Clive to burst into laughter. "I have not," he fired back, insisting, "I have not, I have kept myself to myself. I've minded my own business, I don't think I have shouted at anybody or anything."
Giving him a specific example, Amanda responded: "One day, you were sat in your underpants staring at the floor in the kitchen."
"It's a really frustrating and horrible thing," Clive remarked, as Amanda quipped, "You really are a frustrating and horrible thing." Clive seemed entirely unbothered by the comment, brushing it off with a laugh.
Clive admits to being a 'horrible patient'
Throughout another repeat of Our Farm Next Door, available to watch on All4, Clive openly admitted he had been a "horrible patient" following his operation. "I have definitely been a horrible patient because I am impatient," the farmer admitted.
"I couldn't have managed without these lads to do what needed doing. So yeah, they have done very well."
His comments echo a theme that has run through the series, with Clive having previously reflected on stepping back from farming life. In this episode, he again touched on the idea of handing over responsibility, joking that his sons had coped so well during his recovery that he could soon find himself out of a job.
"It means from now on they needn't hand the reins back to me, they can just carry on," he said, before joking with his son: "I could find myself redundant, what do you think, Miley?"
"That is what family farms are all about, everybody has to help."
