Amanda Holden has revealed that she and her husband Chris Hughes kiss at least 10 times a day, describing the intimate habit as “the easiest thing” to keep going in their marriage. The Britain's Got Talent judge, who has been married to the music manager since 2008, made the admission while fronting the Heart Radio Breakfast Show with co-host Jamie Theakston.
Kissing claim on Heart Radio
During a discussion about a survey on relationship happiness, which suggested couples should kiss at least 10 times a week to stay content, Holden said she was not convinced by the figure. “I think that’s quite low in seven days,” she said, adding that her husband, who she joked “nags” her about it, would argue that is an easy daily total.
When Theakston asked: “You kiss your husband 10 times a day?”, Holden replied: “I would say so,” before joking that even a “Glaswegian one” would count and insisting they still enjoy “a good old snog”. She added that kissing is, in her view, “the easiest thing” to keep going in a marriage.
Holiday mishap and marriage secrets
Earlier this month, Holden told fans about a holiday mishap that left her in an embarrassing predicament. She said she managed to wedge herself between pieces of furniture while naked as she tried to retrieve a dropped bottle of moisturiser. She later posted a clip of the moment on Instagram, with her body blurred.
On a recent episode of her radio show, she also joked that her husband might “leave” her as he is currently upgrading his smile with Invisalign. Holden has previously credited humour as one of the main reasons their relationship has stayed strong. Speaking to Hello! Magazine in 2019, she said Chris keeps things light and that they can “make jokes out of any situation”, even during tough times. She added that while he's “rubbish at romance”, he is dependable in the ways that matter, from keeping her car clean to making sure she switches off and relaxes.
New series of The Celebrity Inner Circle
Holden returns to TV tonight with a new episode of The Celebrity Inner Circle, the quiz show she hosts. The 55-year-old welcomes five contestants, who each choose a celebrity partner and are assigned a secret stash of cash worth anything from zero to £6,000. The first batch of celebrities taking on the challenge in the new series includes Chris Hughes, Kym Marsh, Thanyia Moore, Mike Bushell and Rita Simons.
One contestant has an unexpected link to Holden: Love Island star Chris Hughes shares the exact same name as her husband. The couple share two daughters, Lexi and Hollie. The Celebrity Inner Circle airs tonight at 6.40pm on BBC One.
