Alison Hammond has revealed she would turn down a traditional marriage proposal from her boyfriend David Putman, despite admitting the pair are 'obsessed with each other.'
The This Morning presenter, 51, has been dating 29-year-old massage therapist and model David for around three years, after an unlikely first meeting when she booked him for a massage. Their 22-year age gap has attracted plenty of attention, but Alison has largely kept their romance away from the spotlight.
Living together and content
Now, she has offered a rare glimpse inside their relationship, revealing the couple live together and are happier than ever – but marriage isn't necessarily on the cards. Speaking about the possibility of David getting down on one knee, Alison explained that she would have one major issue with the proposal: she doesn't want an engagement ring.
'I don't need a ring to show my love to somebody,' she told The Mirror. However, that doesn't mean she's completely ruled out becoming Mrs Putman one day. 'What I will say is, if he asked me tomorrow to marry him, it wouldn't be a "no". That's all I'm going to say to you,' she teased.
Destined meeting
Alison, who shares 21-year-old son Aidan with her former partner Noureddine Boufaied, said she and David are already living together and content with their relationship as it is. She also described their meeting as something that felt destined to happen. 'It was so random how we met – but it was meant to be!' she said, adding: 'We are obsessed with each other.'
The former Big Brother star explained that David's calm personality provides a welcome contrast to her own, describing him as 'grounding'. It isn't the first time Alison has gushed over her partner, previously praising his 'beautiful energy' and saying she feels grateful that he has chosen to share his life with her.
Recent health scare
Her candid comments about her love life come after a frightening few days for the TV favourite, who was recently forced to leave This Morning after experiencing what she later described as a 'massive panic attack'. Alison was seen clutching her chest during Friday's programme before leaving the studio and later seeking medical attention. She subsequently explained that the symptoms were so alarming she initially feared she was having a heart attack.
The presenter later addressed the ordeal after Katie Hopkins posted a video mocking her reaction and telling her to 'get a grip'. Responding directly beneath the clip, Alison explained just how frightening the experience had been. 'I thought it was a heart attack it was very scary,' she wrote. She added that she 'wouldn't wish it on anyone', before ending her response with a pointedly gracious message to Hopkins: 'even you cos you are beautiful on inside and out.'
Alison has previously spoken candidly about her relationship with David, despite generally choosing to keep him away from the public eye. And while wedding bells may or may not be in their future, she appears perfectly happy without a diamond to prove it.
