Alex Warren has been praised by fans for his kindness towards Sienna Spiro after she won Best New Artist at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, known as the VMAs. The event took place on Sunday, September 27, in Los Angeles, where Madonna and Taylor Swift were among the big winners.
Madonna performed at the show for the first time in 20 years and took home several awards, including artist of the year. Swift received the first-ever Artist Director Honor and won video of the year for The Fate Of Ophelia.
Shock and Emotion on Stage
When Alex Warren announced on stage that Spiro had won the VMA category, she looked visibly shocked, and it took her a couple of seconds to stand up and head to the stage. Overwhelmed with emotion, Spiro expressed her disbelief, saying, "I didn't think this would happen. I actually can't believe this."
Spiro, an English singer-songwriter and record producer from London, began sharing viral singing videos on TikTok in 2021 before releasing music in 2024. Her song, Maybe, became her debut on the UK Singles Chart and peaked at number 45. In 2025, she released the track Die on This Hill, which became a breakthrough track for the artist, reaching number 9 on the UK singles chart. Following its release, she signed a global publishing agreement with Sony Music Publishing.
Backstage Moment Caught on Camera
Both Spiro and Warren then left the stage, and a camera caught a moment between the pair backstage. In a clip being widely circulated online, Alex Warren approaches Spiro while backstage and encourages her to keep the envelope with her name inside.
He said: "Keep this. Don't forget, keep this. Congratulations." Spiro then looked around her, still in shock after her win, when Alex began to guide her through what would happen next. He said, "You're okay! They just want to get a video of you", before guiding her to where she needed to be.

Fans were in awe of Alex Warren for showing Sienna kindness after her win, with some calling him "the big brother the music industry needs."
