Two friends from Aberfoyle have had their hair cut off to support a pair of good causes, raising more than their initial four-figure target.
Fundraising haircut at village salon
Michelle Colquhoun, 64, and Lynda McColl, 66, both from Aberfoyle, vowed to donate their locks at the Simply Styles Hair Studio in the village. The big cut took place on Friday afternoon at the salon, with another friend, Louise Morgan from Simply Styles, helping to complete their transformation in front of a fine turnout of friends and wellwishers.
Hair donation and search and rescue support
The hair was sent away to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that supports people living with cancer by providing wigs made from natural hair. In addition, an online fundraiser set up by Michelle and Lynda has passed its initial four-figure target to secure £1,155 for Trossachs Search and Rescue, the volunteer squad who help out in Aberfoyle and the surrounding villages.
On their page, the pair explain their support for the search and rescue team. They write: “Trossachs Search and Rescue plays a vital role in our community, responding to emergencies and ensuring safety in some of the most challenging terrains.
“Their work is demanding, often carried out under difficult conditions, and they rely heavily on public support to continue their life-saving mission. Every pound raised helps provide essential equipment, training, and resources that make all the difference when every second counts.”
Certificate to be displayed
Meanwhile, the certificate from the Little Princess Trust is set to be put on display in the salon as the hair is sent off to help someone in need.
