14 wonderkids to watch in 2026/27 including Man Utd and Chelsea gems

The 2026/27 campaign is set to showcase a fresh wave of teenage talent across English football. From 15-year-olds making senior debuts to tactical wildcards ready to break into starting XIs, these young players are no longer waiting patiently for their turn. Mirror Football looks at 14 wonderkids primed to steal the show this season.

Liverpool and Arsenal stars lead the list

Trey Nyoni, 19, is entering his fourth season in and around the Liverpool first team, having turned 19 at the end of June. Despite frustration from fans who felt he deserved more opportunities, Nyoni managed only 237 minutes of first-team football across 14 appearances in all competitions last season. However, he has been one of Liverpool's standout players in pre-season and is likely to feature much more regularly.

Ethan Nwaneri, also 19, made his Premier League debut almost four years ago away to Brentford but is still only 19. After limited first-team opportunities in the first half of last season, he went on loan to Marseille, where his spell was underwhelming and former manager Habib Beye questioned his commitment and attitude. Nwaneri's potential is undeniable, but this season will be hugely significant in determining his trajectory.

United and Villa gems ready to impress

Shea Lacey, 19, has had injury troubles throughout his young career, and his FA Cup cameo against Brighton was cut short by two yellow cards, which interim manager Darren Fletcher deemed 'poor refereeing'. The crossbar denied him a winner away at Burnley in January, but he has talent and confidence in abundance.

Brian Madjo, 17, was acquired by Aston Villa for a £10million fee in January. The six-foot-four striker scored four goals in pre-season, including a brace against Walsall. His registration was disputed between Villa and FIFA, but after Villa's appeal was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Madjo is cleared to play competitively.

Spurs, City, and Chelsea prospects

Luca Williams-Barnett, 17, has been labelled a 'precious diamond' and a 'special player' by Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi. He registered six goals and five assists in ten Premier League 2 games after his promotion from the Under-18s.

Ryan McAidoo, 18, made his Manchester City debut in the 10-1 FA Cup win over Salford and has impressed new manager Enzo Maresca, who called him the 'kind of winger I love'. Dastan Satpayev, 18, signed for Chelsea from Kairat Almaty and scored seven goals in fifteen Kazakhstan Premier Liga appearances, plus a Champions League goal against Copenhagen. He is on loan at Burnley for the season.

Newcastle, Bournemouth, and more

Sean Steur, 18, joined Newcastle from Ajax for around £23m this summer, making 25 first-team appearances last season. JJ Gabriel, 15, went viral as 'Kid Messi' over six years ago and recently made his non-competitive debut against Atletico Madrid. Veljko Milosavljevic, 19, signed for Bournemouth from Red Star Belgrade for £13m in 2025 but was limited to seven Premier League appearances due to a knee injury.

Joshua Abe, 16, signed his scholarship at Liverpool this summer and started against Wrexham in New York. Braiden Graham, 18, netted 12 times for Everton's Under-21s and was shortlisted for the 25/26 Premier League 2 Player of the Season. George Hemmings, 19, joined Villa's academy from Nottingham Forest in 2024 and shone during the Super Cup defeat to PSG. Josh King, 19, scored his first Premier League goal for Fulham against Burnley in March and was taken to the US by Thomas Tuchel in England's pre-tournament squad. Fulham's loss of Harry Wilson may offer King a more established role.
