Prince Harry has been urged against producing a documentary about the late Diana, Princess of Wales, following a new poll by the Daily Express. The Duke of Sussex was aged just 12 when his mother died in 1997, aged 36.
Harry is said to want to mark the 30th anniversary of her death, which falls on August 31 next year, in the "most meaningful way". He has reportedly approached many people who knew his late mother, including friends and family, to take part in the documentary.
Poll results show overwhelming opposition
In a poll conducted by the Daily Express, which ran from 7am on September 23 to 4.15pm on September 24, readers were asked whether Harry should go ahead with his reported plans. A total of 2,836 readers cast a vote.
Of those, 2,767 (98%) voted that he should not, while just 56 (two percent) voted yes. An additional 13 people (0%) voted that they "don't know" whether a documentary by Harry would be a good idea.

Taking to the comment section, one reader wrote: "Should he? NO, will he? YES. It's a moneymaker and that's all this man is interested in £££s..."
Another added: "No. He can't even write."
No final decision yet
A source close to the Duke of Sussex told the Daily Telegraph: "The Duke has discussed a number of possible projects to mark the 30th anniversary of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales's passing. Nothing has been finalised or confirmed, and he is still considering the most meaningful way to honour her legacy during this important anniversary year."
Prince William, his estranged older brother, is reportedly considering ways to commemorate the day. Diana died following injuries sustained in a car crash in Paris; she would have marked her 65th birthday on July 1, 2026.
