Paul Burrell, Princess Diana's former butler, has launched a scathing attack on Earl Spencer over claims in his new biography about the late Princess. Burrell was responding to Spencer's explosive claim that King Charles sounded "giddily elated" following Diana's death.
Burrell, who was in Paris at the time of the Princess's death, said: "I think this book is more about Earl Spencer than it is about his sister... he talks about the King being giddy with excitement when Diana died. Well, I was in Paris – I saw the King. He was a broken man."
Idle refuses questions
Eric Idle has publicly fallen out with surviving Monty Python colleagues John Cleese, Sir Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam over management of the legendary comedy troupe's finances. He now refuses to take questions about the trio on his UK tour.
After appearing at Komedia in Bath this week, where he was promoting his new book Idle In Provence, Idle bitterly announced: "We only had an hour and I don't answer questions about the three not yet dead ones."
Winstone's change of heart
Ray Winstone was initially unhappy to learn that his actress daughter Jaime was appearing in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. He said: "When she first told me, I was like, 'What are you doing that for? You don't want to be a celebrity, you want to be an actress, don't you?' She said, 'Dad, it's different today. That's the way in. Now it's about how many things you've got on your Instagram.'"
Winstone has since warmed to the idea, even playfully volunteering to fight fellow screen bruiser Danny Dyer, father of Jaime's Strictly rival Dani.
Sergeant's Strictly stance
Eighteen years since his clodhopping efforts on Strictly earned him national treasure status, former BBC political correspondent John Sergeant refuses to watch the series. He grumpily remarked: "The idea of wanting to relive your Strictly experience every Saturday night, right through to Christmas? No, I'm sorry, I don't think that's my idea of fun."
Nigella on Bake Off
Dazzled by the arrival of Domestic Goddess Nigella Lawson on Bake Off, show presenter Noel Fielding enthused: "We all have these little shepherds' huts [on the set] and you can just see Nigella in her hut. She's like Cleopatra, lying on her chaise lounge."
Married father-of-two Noel added: "Sometimes, she summons you in. You kneel down at her feet because she lies across the whole thing... she's amazing."

An ageless 61, Elizabeth Hurley proudly confirmed: "I haven't been to a gym since the 90s and keep active by gardening and strimming hedges."
Horgan's midlife strife
Promoting new comedy series Youth, highlighting the perils of midlife dating, actress Sharon Horgan admitted daughter Sadhbh was horrified by her mother's love scenes. Explaining the 22-year-old was working in the show's costume department, divorced Sharon, 56, chuckled: "My eldest daughter is just disgusted... you don't want to watch your mum kissing with tongues!"
