Liverpool Anglican Cathedral will host the world premiere of Noël, an immersive light and sound experience, from November 27 to December 5. The event will transform the cathedral with projections, immersive soundscapes and stories journeying through Christmases past across its archways, ceilings and stone.
Artistic Collaboration and New Installation
The projection artworks are created by Luxmuralis, the artistic collaboration between Artistic Director and Visual Artist Peter Walker and composer David Harper, brought to life by a team of technical specialists. This year introduces Constellation, a new artwork by Peter Walker featuring thousands of paper stars carrying messages of hope and reflection from local school children.
The installation invites children and young people to explore themes including light and darkness, hope, belonging and community, before creating their own star to become part of the piece. Specially created Key Stage 2 and 3 resources will support pupils in exploring the symbolism of stars at Christmas, developing creative writing skills and using imagery to express their ideas. Schools can also visit the cathedral to create their own star, with contributions becoming part of the wider installation.
