Katie Price has spoken of her relief after her son Harvey lost two stone since starting the weight-loss drug Mounjaro. The 24-year-old, whose father is former footballer Dwight Yorke, has Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes physical symptoms, learning difficulties and behavioural problems.
Harvey previously weighed 28 stone, and Katie, 48, said earlier this year she worried he would "end up dying of a heart attack". The condition affects around one in 10,000 to 30,000 people and causes constant hunger, leaving Harvey severely overweight.
Mounjaro journey begins
Katie first mentioned Harvey's Mounjaro treatment when he moved to adult residential care in January. "Things are definitely going to change for Harvey when we move 'cos although he's moving to adult residential, he's also going to be starting the Mounjaro where we can keep an eye on it," she said at the time. "So he'll be losing weight. It's just a completely different life away from college."
Speaking on the latest episode of The Katie Price Show podcast, which she co-hosts with her sister Sophie, Katie said: "He's started Mounjaro because I told you he's lost two stone. And I can really see him here [points to stomach] losing weight." Sophie replied: "That's great."
Health risks and weight history
Katie previously discussed Harvey's weight-loss plans last month, saying on the podcast: "Harvey is starting the Mounjaro. I can't wait. Then he can do the rollercoasters, he can do more, walk more and have more energy. To be obese you need to have a BMI of 27. Harvey's is 59, so way up - he's morbidly obese." She added: "So he needs it for his health. This isn't for looks, it's for a better quality of life for him."
On Andrew Gold's Heretics podcast, she said: "I'm not worried about his [Harvey] eyesight. What I'm worried about is him having a heart attack, his obesity. He weight just under 30 stone." She added: "It's easy for me to just give it, but because of his other medications, you have to have all the team tick it off. It's getting to a point now, where he doesn't want to walk anywhere, he gets out of breath and sweats and they have said he is at high risk of having a heart attack."
Harvey has hovered around the 28-stone mark for nearly six years, first reaching that weight in late 2020 when he was 18. Katie first publicly shared that his weight had peaked at 28st 7lbs in November 2020. Doctors evaluated him in 2021 when his weight peaked at 29 stone, noting the complex combination of his condition and necessary medications. Katie revealed last year that Harvey had begun taking weight-loss injections under medical supervision to manage his obesity and reduce his risk of a heart attack.
