Wayne Rooney has expressed his pride after his son Kai, 16, signed a first-year scholarship contract with Manchester United's youth academy. The former Manchester United and England striker shared a photo on Instagram of himself and his wife Coleen alongside Kai as he put pen to paper.

Wayne, who is currently in the USA for the World Cup, captioned the post: "Proud of you @kairooney.10" accompanied by a red love heart emoji. The post garnered over 195,000 likes, including from notable figures such as Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, actor James Nelson Joyce, singer Olly Murs, and actor Adam Thomas.
Boxer Tony Bellew commented with round of applause emojis and a blue heart, while Manchester City and former Everton player Jack Grealish also added round of applause emojis. Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah wrote: "Like father like son [fire emojis] proud."
Kai's Own Message
Kai shared his own post on Instagram to mark the milestone, stating: "Work starts now." The 16-year-old forward follows in the footsteps of his father, who is regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation. Wayne Rooney played for Manchester United from 2004 to 2017, making 559 appearances and scoring a record 253 goals before returning to Everton in 2017.
Family Background
Kai is the eldest of Wayne and Coleen's four sons, alongside Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight. The family resides in a mansion near Knutsford, Cheshire, which features 40 acres of land and a full-sized football pitch. They are set to appear in a new fly-on-the-wall documentary offering a glimpse into their daily lives.
