A Tooth Fairy Tale is a new animated adventure aimed at preteens, blending fantasy with a light romantic subplot suitable for younger viewers. The story follows Van, a skateboarding teenage rebel fairy voiced by Booboo Stewart, who is unenthusiastic about his duty to collect children's teeth and leave gold under pillows. His curiosity is sparked when he encounters a goblin, voiced by Larkin Bell, who defies the ugly stereotype he was taught.
The fairy and goblin communities are estranged, holding prejudiced beliefs about each other. Fairies are seen as entitled thieves, while goblins are thought to be stupid and primitive, but are actually bright and technologically advanced. The two species must set aside their differences to unite against a common enemy: bloodthirsty spiders voiced by Jon Lovitz and Fran Drescher, who seek to eat them.
While not groundbreaking, the film offers an enjoyable experience for children beginning to experience first crushes, filling a niche for those not yet ready for older teen content. It may not become a favourite, but it's a solid choice for family viewing.
