Rebecca Yarros has officially announced the next book in the record-breaking Fourth Wing series, titled Threshing Day, set for release in September 2026. Pre-orders are already available at half price on Amazon.
What Is Threshing Day About?
The book cover reveals that 13 “unforgettable stories” will build tension toward “one legendary day.” The tagline reads: “The bond that changes everything.” This could refer to a dragon bond or the relationship between protagonists Violet and Xaden, which reached a crisis point at the end of Onyx Storm.
Yarros has confirmed that Xaden will enter his “villain era” in the fourth book, and Violet will learn the true reason why Xaden married her. Loose ends from Onyx Storm will be tied up, including the disappearance of Xaden and other missing riders, the location of missing dragon eggs, and what the dragon Andarna learned from the irids.
Plot Details and Character Development
At a Disney event in April, Yarros said multiple points of view will continue in the sequels for extra character development. She also revealed that a dragon is lying about its name, Dain and Sloan are “endgame” (planned from the start), and Ridoc will get a larger storyline. Yarros also warned: “Someone you love won’t make it in book four.”
