Cinnabon has terminated its collaborations with The Bachelorette and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives following allegations of domestic violence involving reality star Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. A spokesperson confirmed the decision on Tuesday, stating that recent developments led the company to reassess the partnerships as they no longer aligned with its brand values.
The Draper City Police Department in Utah is investigating the allegations after a recent incident, according to a source cited by Variety. Production on Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has been paused, though the source described the delay as likely brief and not expected to significantly affect the release timeline.
On 9 March, Cinnabon had launched a Swirled Soda inspired by a viral beverage trend popularised by the cast of Mormon Wives, accompanied by themed cup sleeves and packaging for both shows. The company’s decision to cut ties comes just ahead of the Season 22 premiere of The Bachelorette, scheduled for 22 March on ABC.
This is not the first time Taylor Frankie Paul has faced such allegations. During Season 1 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Paul was arrested for allegedly hitting, choking and throwing metal chairs at Mortensen, with one chair reportedly striking one of her children from a previous relationship. She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, while other charges including domestic violence in the presence of a child were dismissed. The arrest caused significant filming delays between the first two episodes.
