MIXX Analog Plus Review: Nostalgic All-in-One Turntable and CD Player
MIXX Analog Plus: Nostalgic Turntable and CD Player Review

The MIXX Analog Plus is a clever all-in-one music player that combines a fully automatic belt-drive turntable with a top-loading CD player in a single compact unit. Designed for those who want to enjoy both vinyl and CDs without the clutter of separate components, it offers an appealing blend of convenience, style and versatility.

Innovative Design and Features

Rather than placing a CD player beneath or alongside the turntable, MIXX has integrated a top-loading CD mechanism into the centre of the platter, creating one of the most innovative layouts seen in an all-in-one music player. The turntable supports both 33⅓ and 45rpm records and comes fitted with the highly regarded Audio-Technica AT3600L moving magnet cartridge, while the CD player handles standard CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs, including MP3, WAV and WMA files.

Bluetooth 5.3 output allows users to stream either source wirelessly to compatible speakers or headphones, while RCA outputs are available for traditional hi-fi systems. The fully automatic tonearm removes much of the fuss from vinyl playback, automatically cueing and returning at the end of a record. There's also a one-sided repeat function, track skipping for CDs, a front display and an infrared remote control that lets you operate both playback modes.

Build Quality and Sound Performance

Build quality is described as excellent. The minimalist cabinet, available in black or white, has a clean, contemporary look that fits well in a modern living room. The controls are neatly integrated into the front panel, and despite housing two separate playback systems, the unit remains surprisingly slim and compact.

Sound quality is good rather than exceptional. Vinyl playback is the stronger performer, with the Audio-Technica cartridge delivering a warm, enjoyable presentation capable of bringing older record collections back to life. The CD player is clean and perfectly listenable but lacks continuous playback, which has been noted by users.

User Feedback and Compromises

One user commented: "Don't get me wrong. It's beautiful, can't fault the record player, but the CD leaves a lot to be desired. What happened to continuous CD playing?" Another user praised it as a "game changer for me - an all-in-one unit that took very little time to set up and connect to wireless speakers and headphones."

There are some compromises. Bluetooth transmission is convenient but won't satisfy audiophiles seeking the highest-resolution playback, and it doesn't support higher-end features such as USB recording or network streaming. At around £300, it's priced above many entry-level turntables, although few rivals offer anything close to its combination of features and design.

Verdict and Availability

Overall, the MIXX Analog Plus is an imaginative and well-executed product that bridges the gap between analogue nostalgia and modern convenience. It isn't intended to replace a dedicated hi-fi separates system, but instead provides an enjoyable, hassle-free way to rediscover both vinyl and CDs in a stylish package. The MIXX Analog Plus is available for £299.99 from the MIXX website.
