Mbappe Returns as EA FC 27 Cover Star, Reveal July 23

EA Sports have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe will be the cover star for the Ultimate Edition of EA Sports FC 27. The French forward returns to the cover for the first time since FIFA 23, when EA Sports still published under the FIFA name.

Mbappe Returns to the Cover

Mbappe was last seen on the cover of FIFA 23, the final FIFA title before EA Sports rebranded to EA Sports FC. Since then, Erling Haaland featured on the inaugural EA FC 24 cover, while Jude Bellingham appeared on EA FC 25 and alongside Jamal Musiala for EA FC 26.

There had been speculation that Bellingham would return for another year, possibly joined by a Barcelona player, or that Cristiano Ronaldo would be the Ultimate Edition cover star. However, EA Sports confirmed the move in a social media post that read: "Back on the cover. Ready to go again."

Full Reveal Trailer Coming July 23

EA Sports have teased the full EA FC 27 reveal, with a new trailer set to drop on Thursday, July 23 at 5pm BST (9am PT/12pm ET) on YouTube. The trailer is expected to confirm the release date, which leaks have suggested could be Friday, September 25. It may also address rumours of an open world social hub codenamed FC The Grounds.

Mbappe's Record-Breaking Year

Mbappe secured back-to-back Pichichi Trophies as La Liga's top goalscorer in 2026 and was the top scorer in the UEFA Champions League with 15 goals. At the 2026 World Cup, he became France's all-time top goalscorer, surpassing Olivier Giroud, and eventually claimed the overall FIFA World Cup goalscorer record with 22 goals. He also scored the joint-highest number of goals in a single World Cup tournament with 10, securing the Golden Boot.
