Liverpool cult hero Djibril Cisse's son, Prince, has signed his first professional contract with the club, continuing the family's connection to Anfield. The 17-year-old has been with Liverpool since the pre-academy phase and has now committed his future to the Reds.
Prince Cisse's Journey at Liverpool
Prince, who started as a forward but has since converted to centre-back, has been a regular in Liverpool's youth ranks. He has also earned two caps for the Wales under-18 side. Speaking about his father's career, Prince said: "I've seen the highlights. It's nice to watch him back, see what he was like. A bit of a crazy player with his mad hairstyles and all that."
He added: "Me playing centre-back now, he was probably a striker that I wouldn't want to play against. He seemed like a good player. I had pace but maybe my goalscoring ability probably wasn't as good as his, hence why I've been moved to centre-back. He was lightning-quick but I'd say I'm maybe a bit quicker."
Djibril Cisse's Liverpool Legacy
Djibril Cisse spent three seasons at Liverpool between 2004 and 2007, though he was on loan at Marseille during the final term. He made 82 appearances for the Reds, scoring 26 goals, and won the Champions League, FA Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. Unlike his son, Djibril represented France internationally, earning 41 caps and scoring nine goals.
Liverpool's Summer Departures
While Prince Cisse is set to stay, Liverpool has confirmed several high-profile departures this summer. Mohamed Salah made his final appearance at the end of last season, leaving on a free transfer. Andrew Robertson has joined Tottenham, and Ibrahima Konate is expected to move to Real Madrid.
