Dylan Wilson makes a shocking allegation on Coronation Street next week, blaming his best friend Brody Michaelis for Betsy Swain's medical crisis after she is rushed to hospital. The accusation comes after Betsy's mother, Lisa Connor-Swain, reports Dylan to the police, believing he is responsible for her collapse.
Betsy's Health Crisis
Next week's episodes see Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) rushed to hospital in an ambulance after Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) finds her unconscious on the kitchen floor. At the hospital, a nurse explains to a tearful Lisa (Vicky Myers) that Betsy will undergo an MRI scan. The drama escalates when Betsy suffers a fit as Dylan (Liam McCheyne) arrives, and later wakes up with muddled speech, struggling to communicate.
Lisa, already fraught with worry, becomes convinced that Dylan is to blame. She reports him to the police, leaving Dylan stunned when he arrives at the hospital with treats for Betsy, only to be accused of causing her condition.
Dylan's Accusation
Dylan is further upset when Lauren (Cait Fitton) tells him that Betsy is in a bad way and does not want to see him. Meanwhile, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) informs Sean (Antony Cotton) that two police officers have arrested Dylan at the precinct. Unaware that Lauren told Dylan to stay away, Betsy is shocked to discover her mother reported him.
When Sean and Dylan go to The Rovers, Lauren refuses to serve them. In a desperate move, Dylan throws someone else under the bus, alleging that Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) is responsible for what happened to Betsy. The accusation threatens to blow up his friendship with Brody and his relationship with Betsy.
Background of Trauma
Dylan and Betsy are bonded by shared trauma. Betsy survived being accidentally shot by her mother Lisa, witnessed the return of her other mother Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) from the dead, and discovered the body of Theo Silverton. Dylan, the son of Sean Tully, bullied former friend Liam Connor, fell in with a gang, and spent six months in a secure training facility for carrying a knife, where he met Brody. The two teens were also connected by the stabbing of Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), Betsy's first boyfriend and the gang's ringleader.
Despite these hardships, the couple has stuck together, even planning a long-distance relationship as Betsy prepares to move to London to study fashion. However, next week's events put their future in jeopardy.
