Three sisters from Gloucestershire have graduated together from Cardiff University, paying tribute to their late grandfather during the ceremony. Rose, Maudie and Grace Orgill, 21, each received honours from different colleges of the university.
Rose earned a BSc in chemistry, Maudie a BA in history, and Grace a BSc in biomedical sciences. The triplets wore ribbons and forget-me-not flowers on their gowns in memory of their grandfather, who passed away suddenly on the day of Rose's final chemistry exam.
Their mother, Clare Orgill, said: “The girls each wore a ribbon and forget-me-not flower on their gowns in memory of him, a beautiful reminder that he’s still with them, cheering them on. Just like us, he was so incredibly proud of our girls.”
Although the sisters initially planned to attend different universities, they all chose Cardiff after falling in love with the city during an offer-holder day. They ended up sharing a six-person flat and lived together throughout their studies, also representing the Cardiff University Netball Club.
Grace said: “It was like moving home from home with them to be honest. But it’s allowed us to make triple the friends, which is never a bad thing.”
The triplets now plan to travel to south-east Asia before deciding on their next steps. Grace is considering joining the RAF, Rose may move abroad for work, and Maudie hopes to pursue a law conversion course at Cardiff.
