Teenagers across the UK will receive their GCSE results on Thursday, with many accessing grades online for the first time. Most students will collect results from school in the morning, but timings vary by school.
Online results via Education Record app
This year, students can view grades through the Education Record app, following a trial involving 95,000 pupils in Manchester and the West Midlands last summer. The app provides a digital record for future education or employment applications and updates on results day.
Results will appear on the app at 11am. The Department for Education announced the £30m app in January, and schools using it provide a QR code for pupils to link their record.
School collection times
Schools can release results from 8am on Thursday, but the exact time depends on each school's arrangements. Individual schools set their own collection times and inform students when to arrive for their envelopes.
If you can't collect in person
Students who are away, unwell, or otherwise unable to attend can arrange in advance to receive results by email or post. Emails typically arrive on results day, while posted grades may take longer. Some schools allow someone else to collect results with a signed letter and photo ID, but arrangements differ.
