GCSE results day takes place on Thursday, August 20, with students able to access their grades online for the first time via the Education Record app. Results will be available from 8am, with online updates at 11am.
Accessing Results Online
This year, many GCSE students can see their results on the Education Record app, following a trial involving 95,000 students in Manchester and the West Midlands last summer. The app provides a digital record for future use when applying for further education or employment and will be updated on results day.
The Department of Education announced the £30m app in January. Schools using the app need to provide a QR code to students to link to their record.
School Collection Arrangements
Students can still traditionally collect results from their school on Thursday morning, with timings varying depending on the school. Individual schools set their own collection arrangements and will inform students what time they should arrive to pick up their envelopes.
If You Can't Collect Results
If students are ill, on holiday, or unable to visit the school, they can typically arrange in advance to receive results by email or post. Emails generally arrive on results day, but posted grades may take longer. Students may also nominate someone else to collect results, provided that person brings a signed letter and photo ID.
