Thistles Stirling has officially opened The Cub House, its newly transformed soft play and community area, giving families in Stirling city centre a new place to play, meet and unwind.
Situated next to Primark, the space offers families a place to entertain little ones and take a break during a day of shopping. The colourful new area marks the next chapter for Thistles’ popular soft play offering, following the success of its former farm-themed play area in the old Debenhams café.
New features and facilities
Opening to Stirling locals this month, the area boasts a brand new renovation with toddler friendly snack vending machines, additional seating for adults and a variety of areas for toddlers and young children to play.
The stage, situated within the new unit, will host its monthly kids club, known as The Wolf Pack. The Wolf Pack is completely free and provides a range of seasonal activities.
Community activities and partnerships
As part of The Cub House, the new area will house Alba Playtime, a pop up where children can take part in a range of mini role play scenarios. Thistles has previously worked with Music Bugs within this space to host sensory baby classes.
Committed to its community, Thistles Stirling has donated its previous soft play equipment to the not-for-profit enterprise Baby Steps 20+. The Falkirk charity creates employment opportunities for adults with disabilities and provides affordable pre-loved baby and children’s equipment to families.
Gary Turnbull, Centre Director at Thistles, Stirling said: “Following the success of the soft play area, we felt it was time to give it the revamp it deserves.
“At Thistles, we are always looking to evolve and this is the latest chapter in that growth.
“We want families to have everything under one roof - from shopping and dining to entertaining the wee ones.
“Providing free spaces and events to families is essential to us at Thistles and something we are very proud to deliver.
“The response to the previous soft play was phenomenal so we can’t wait to see the response from families from Stirling and beyond.”
Upcoming events and ongoing support
Thistles Stirling is committed to providing a range of free events throughout the year. Joining in on the World Cup festivities, the centre provided several sticker swap activities with local football team Stirling Albion. The centre also hosted football freestyler Ross Brown for a variety of football demonstrations, encouraging the local community to get involved.
Over the next few months Thistles Stirling will host its free Wolf Pack kids club and other family-friendly activities. The centre will also continue to support important community partnerships such as Stirlingshire Table Tennis who host daily Pop In and Play table tennis sessions.
