Tragedy Strikes on School Journey
A community in Fife has been left in shock after a 15-year-old boy died suddenly after falling ill on his school bus. The tragic incident occurred on Monday, 24 November 2025, near the A92 Halbeath roundabout in Dunfermline.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 1.45pm after reports that a teenage boy had taken unwell on the bus. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that the boy's next of kin have been informed. Officers have stated that the death is currently being treated as unexplained and that enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
School Community 'Devastated' by Loss
The boy was a pupil at Beath High School in Dunfermline. Stephen Ross, the headteacher, expressed the profound grief felt across the school, describing how staff and students are 'devastated by this news'.
In a statement, Mr Ross said: 'Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones at this sensitive and difficult time. We are looking after our young people and arranging support across the school community providing space, time and help to those who need it.' The school has mobilised its support systems to help students and staff cope with the tragic loss.
