A primary school teacher in the UK experienced a heart-stopping moment of shock that could scarcely be believed, after making a truly slithery discovery during lunchtime.
The educator was conducting a routine check of pupils' lunchboxes when they unzipped one bag to find something utterly unexpected coiling inside: a live, fully-grown corn snake.
The harmless reptile, later named 'Slithers' by the children, had somehow found its way into the container. The teacher, demonstrating remarkable composure, immediately secured the lunchbox and moved the class to a different room to ensure everyone's safety.
A New Home for Slithers
The school swiftly contacted the RSPCA for assistance. Animal collection officer Shane Lynn was dispatched to the scene, calling it one of the more unusual classroom finds.
"I've seen a lot in my time, but this was a first," Lynn stated. He confirmed the corn snake was non-venomous and in good health, though undoubtedly as surprised as the teacher.
With no owner coming forward, the beautiful orange-hued snake was collected and has since been rehomed to a specialist reptile keeper who will provide it with proper care.
