Morriston Comprehensive School in Cwmrhydyceirw, Swansea, has confirmed the death of one of its Year 11 pupils earlier this month.
The school said it learned of the pupil's passing with "great sadness" and that trained staff are available to support pupils where needed.
Headteacher's statement
Dr Karen Williams, Headteacher at Morriston Comprehensive School, said: "It was with great sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of one of our Year 11 pupils earlier this month."
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the pupil's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."
"As a school community we have come together to support one another and trained staff continue to be available to listen to and support any pupils where needed."
Council leader offers condolences
At a Swansea cabinet meeting on Wednesday, September 16, council leader Rob Stewart expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the pupil.
The school has respectfully asked that everyone is mindful of the family's privacy at this time.
