Teenage Girl Left with Broken Wrist and Whiplash Injuries After Violent School Altercation
A teenage girl in Bradley Stoke has been left with a broken wrist and whiplash-like injuries following a vicious physical altercation that was captured on a video that has since gone viral. Her mother has revealed that the traumatic incident has left her daughter too frightened to return to school, with crucial GCSE examinations looming on the horizon.
Shocking Viral Footage Captures Violent Confrontation
The violent confrontation erupted in Bradley Stoke on Tuesday, March 31, outside a local youth club. The footage, which has been widely circulated on social media and viewed nearly 120,000 times, shows a chaotic brawl involving four teenage girls. In the video, one girl (Girl A) is seen being punched in the head by another (Girl B) while attempting to defend herself. A third teenager (Girl C), wearing a white t-shirt, then retaliates by swinging at the initial aggressor, apparently coming to her friend's aid.
A fourth girl (Girl D), clad in a black hoodie, wades into the fray, leaving Girl C surrounded by the pair. She tumbles to the ground, dragging Girl B down with her, as Girl D repeatedly strikes her on the head. An adult male is then seen attempting to intervene, while Girl D is heard hurling abuse at Girls A and C. The footage concludes with the girls pursuing Girl C around the corner of a building, continuing to shout expletives, as another scuffle breaks out with the adult man stepping between them.
Mother Describes Daughter's Trauma and Lasting Injuries
The mother of one of the girls involved explained that her daughter and her friend were attacked after the other group had been hurling food and water at them. "One of the bullies punched her in the back of her head," the mother said, detailing that her daughter then rang her and walked away. "That's when one of the girls started attacking [Girl A]. Two jumped on her. [Girl A] got away and now it's two on one."
She described the girls as being in tears and hysterical following the assault, with them heading to a nearby leisure centre while she rushed out to reach her daughter. The mother recounted a frightening moment when she arrived: "I was on the phone with [my daughter] when I got to the youth centre. I spoke to a random person who said they didn't see anything happening. My daughter said 'that's them' and they turned on me. They threatened me, saying they know where I live, they didn't care." She added that she stayed with her daughter, her friend, and a Year 7 student to keep them safe until police arrived.
The physical consequences of the assault were severe. Girl A's teeth were damaged, requiring medical treatment, while Girl C sustained a broken wrist, multiple bruises, and muscular injuries similar to whiplash. "Her GCSEs are soon and she's got to sit in the same room as her attackers," the mother lamented. "This was the first time they went out together in a while. [Girl C] defended her friend. She will defend a stranger. She wears her heart on her sleeve, she'll do anything for anyone." She emphasized her desire for the violence to stop, stating, "I want children to feel safe."
Broader Context of Youth Violence in the Area
This incident occurs against a backdrop of concerning youth violence in the region. Just one month prior, a teenage girl was set upon by a gang of boys and girls outside a Zara store in Cabot Circus. The victim's mother, known only as Stacey, told local media in March how her daughter was followed to a bus stop before being assaulted. "Luckily, she wasn't badly injured," Stacey said. "She's a bit bruised but there are no injuries. She had concussion and some bruising to her cheeks, a few heel marks on her legs. We're very lucky."
The mother of the girl attacked in Bradley Stoke highlighted the profound psychological impact on her daughter, who is now scared to leave the house and worried about her academic performance due to her fear of returning to school. With the viral video amplifying public awareness, this case underscores urgent questions about student safety, bullying prevention, and the support systems available for victims of school-related violence.
