Tragic Death of Eight-Year-Old Girl at Welsh Primary School

A family has paid tribute to an eight-year-old girl who died following a 'freak accident' at her primary school in Wales. Olivia-Grace Huxter was taken ill at Penrhys Primary School in Ferndale, Rhondda, on Wednesday afternoon and later died in hospital.

Her mother, Melanie, described her as a 'beautiful baby girl' and said she was grateful to have held her and sung her favourite bedtime song one last time. 'I don't know what life will look like now. I love you to the moon and back...twice,' she said.

A family member said there had been a 'freak accident' at the school and that no one was to blame. South Wales Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances and that an investigation on behalf of the coroner was under way, with a post-mortem examination expected to determine the cause of death.
