Two young pupils from Carr Lodge Academy in Doncaster have tragically died within 24 hours of each other, the school has confirmed.
The school, located on Grady Drive, said the deaths were entirely separate and unrelated to the school, but described the loss as 'highly uncommon and heartbreaking' for the community.
In a statement, a school spokesperson said: 'It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we have been informed of the death of two of our pupils. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the children’s families and friends as they cope with their unimaginable loss.'
The school is working with local authorities and multi-agency support, including experts in child bereavement, to support pupils and staff in the coming days and weeks.
Parents and carers have been informed, and the school has asked the public to refrain from speculation on social media and to respect the families' privacy. Tributes and memorials will be arranged in due course.
