Airdrieonians have announced the signing of midfielder Lewis Gibson from Raith Rovers, but the club has yet to land the striker fans have been hoping for.
The 21-year-old, a former Queen of the South winger, joins John Rankin's squad at New Broomfield as the League One side continue their summer rebuild under their new manager.
Gibson's arrival comes as Rankin expressed his frustration to Lanarkshire Live Sport over the difficulty of signing a forward, claiming top clubs are 'stockpiling' strikers.

Rankin said: "Teams at the top end of the Scottish pyramid are stockpiling strikers and centre forwards, simply because they are scared of running out."
"At our level you are trying to build the next one and hope someone catches fire. There is a lot of good build-up play in teams at this level, it is just putting the finishing touches to it. If there is anyone out there that can do that, they will make themselves a millionaire."
The manager added: "We are trying [to bring in a striker]. Alan Gow, the recruitment team, and I are working hard and we have managed to build a whole new team. There is scope to bring new players in and I think we need a bit of imagination through the top end of the pitch and a different type through the middle."
"Whether we will be able to do that or not, finance will dictate, but the club is in a healthy financial position and that is the most important thing."
Gibson's potential impact
Airdrie drew 0-0 at Cove Rangers in their League One opener on August 1 and scored from the penalty spot through Liam McLeish in Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to East Kilbride.
Gibson may help the Diamonds find the net more regularly, having provided a goal and six assists while at Montrose in the second half of last season.
He is in contention to make his debut in tonight's KDM Evolution Trophy group phase match at Dumbarton.
