A British-born publishing heir and his pregnant wife have died in a plane crash in Guatemala. Harald Undrum, 53, an heir to the Schibsted media dynasty, and his wife Judith Mazariegos, 26, who was six months pregnant, were among four victims when their aircraft went down in San Marcos on Saturday night.
The Cessna 182 crashed in a remote area of Esquipulas Palo Gordo. Three people died at the scene, and a fourth later succumbed to injuries in hospital. The pilot, former footballer Darío Doherr, who played for Xelajú MC and Comunicaciones, also died. Comunicaciones FC expressed condolences in a statement.
Local villagers reported a loud bang from a mountainous area. Fire service ASONBOMD confirmed the discovery of wreckage with registration TG-SCO. The civil air authority and La Aurora International airport are investigating why the plane suddenly lost altitude before crashing.
Undrum was born in London and adopted into the Schibsted family, one of Norway's richest. He attended school in England before moving to Norway in 1998. He later faced legal issues after lending a large sum to a financier in 2005, relocated to Spain, worked as a lorry driver, and reportedly filed for bankruptcy in 2025 despite having millions in his bank account. He was also investigated by Norwegian tax authorities.
