The 100 Greatest Novels in English: Share Your Top Three
100 Best Novels: Share Your Top Three Favorites

The Guardian has unveiled its list of the 100 greatest novels published in English, as determined by a poll of 172 authors, critics, and academics from around the world. Participants were asked to rank their top 10 novels of all time, and the results were scored based on frequency of mention and weighted by individual rankings to produce the final list.

How the list was compiled

We surveyed 172 literary experts, including authors, critics, and academics, asking them to submit their top 10 novels published in English. Each submission was ranked in order of preference. The titles were then scored according to how often they appeared, with additional weighting applied based on individual rankings. This methodology produced the definitive list of the 100 greatest books.
