Edinburgh School Violence Videos Prompt Parent Fury

Parents in Edinburgh have expressed outrage after videos showing violent attacks at Firhill High School circulated online. The footage, reportedly filmed on January 9, depicts a pupil being repeatedly kicked and slammed head-first into a sink in a school bathroom, while pleading for help. Other clips show group fights in a wooded area and two girls fighting outside.

One anonymous parent told Edinburgh Live they were 'shaken to the core' after their child received the video. They claimed the victim suffered a fractured rib and nose, and that one of the alleged attackers remained in school the next day. The parent said: 'It feels there are no consequences for their actions.'

Edinburgh education chief councillor James Dalgleish said he was 'deeply shocked' and vowed to take the matter 'extremely seriously'. He added: 'I can only imagine how the victims and their families must feel.' Councillor Jason Rust branded the footage 'very concerning' and called for a 'full explanation' from the council's education department.

Firhill High School has faced previous issues, including being over capacity and teachers being targeted by bullying TikTok accounts. In 2023, multiple accounts were removed after posting derogatory clips of staff. Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
