A quiet neighbourhood in Paradise Valley, Arizona, was thrown into chaos when a small birthday gathering for a school board member's son exploded into a massive, out-of-control party attended by around 500 teenagers.
Social Media Leak Sparks Chaos
The incident unfolded a couple of weeks ago at the home of Dr. Matthew Pittinsky, a member of the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board. What was intended as an invite-only event for his son's birthday was gatecrashed by hundreds of uninvited teens after the property's address was shared widely on social media.
Dr. Pittinsky explained to police that another local party had been shut down, and those teenagers then used social media to find and proceed to his house. The situation escalated rapidly, with authorities being called to the scene at approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, 27th November 2025, following reports of underage drinking and a large, unruly gathering.
Scene of Disruption and Underage Drinking
Neighbours described a scene of significant disruption. One resident told AZFamily, "There were girls twerking and not a lot of clothes on. We saw cans, beer cans on the road, police cars." The scale of the party was confirmed by police documents, which noted that about 500 young people had swarmed the property.
The consequences of the night were serious. One teenager was transported to hospital for suspected alcohol poisoning. When questioned by the officers on the scene, the teens uniformly denied drinking or bringing any alcohol to the home. A neighbour remarked on the difficulty of the situation, stating, "It’s hard to tell with high school kids, if they’re acting drunk or are drunk."
Aftermath and Political Fallout
Despite the scale of the event and the medical emergency, no one was charged in the incident. The crowd was eventually dispersed by police. Dr. Pittinsky had taken some precautions, having hired security with instructions to confiscate any alcohol brought to the party, but these measures were overwhelmed by the sheer number of attendees.
In a statement, Dr. Pittinsky emphasised that he took "every precaution" to ensure the party was safe and courteous to neighbours and that he fully cooperated with the police to shut it down safely when things got out of hand. He believes the entire incident has been "distorted and weaponised" due to his position on the school board. His term on the board, which began this year, is set to run until 2028.
