A youth pastor from Virginia has been embroiled in scandal after it was revealed he sent explicit text messages to underage girls while pretending to be a teenager himself.
The disturbing behaviour came to light after concerned parents reported the inappropriate communications to local authorities.
Deceptive Online Behaviour
The pastor, whose identity has been withheld pending formal charges, allegedly created fake social media profiles posing as a teenage boy to initiate conversations with young girls in his congregation.
Investigators discovered numerous sexually suggestive messages sent to multiple victims, some as young as 14 years old.
Community in Shock
Members of the church community expressed disbelief at the allegations against someone they had trusted with their children's spiritual guidance.
"We're absolutely devastated," said one parent who wished to remain anonymous. "This was someone we welcomed into our homes and trusted with our kids."
