Teenage Girl Dies After Medical Emergency at School

A teenage girl has died after suffering a medical emergency at St Wilfrid’s RC College in South Shields, South Tyneside, this morning.

Emergency services were called to the school on Temple Park Road at 9:17am. The North East Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulance crews, a critical care specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader, and the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Headteacher Catherine Lennox confirmed the incident in a statement, saying: 'As you may already be aware, we have had a medical episode in school this morning. Sadly, the student involved has passed away. Our entire school community is deeply saddened, and we will continue to come together to support one another at this incredibly difficult time.'
