Police initially charged one 15-year-old boy with murder on Monday night. According to police affidavits presented in court, the young person allegedly set upon the victim unprovoked and stabbed him in the groin area. The court also heard that the 15-year-old was captured on police body-worn camera footage telling an officer "I stabbed another boy in the leg".
Second Arrest and Community Impact
In a significant development on Tuesday evening, officers executed a search warrant at a home near the crime scene around 9.45pm, leading to the arrest of a second 15-year-old boy. This teenager has since been charged with murder and was scheduled to appear before court on Wednesday.
The first accused teenager appeared in a children's court on Tuesday, where he did not apply for bail and will remain in custody for the next eight weeks. The second teen was refused bail and will also face a children's court.
