The mother of an 11-year-old girl who died in a suspected drug-related incident has vowed to seek justice, saying those responsible have 'blood on their hands'. Samantha Curley spoke out after her daughter Olivia died on Monday, November 17, at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
Olivia, a pupil at Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh, fell ill on Friday and was taken to hospital on Sunday. A parent at the school told BBC Scotland News the death is believed to be drugs-related, making Olivia potentially the youngest drug death victim in Scotland. Police are treating the death as unexplained.
In a Facebook tribute, Ms Curley wrote: 'You all have my daughter's blood on your hands you all know who you are but not for long KARMA is a b***h.' She added: 'I will never get over this sweetheart but I will tell you we will look after your little sister and justice will be done.'
A fundraising page set up for the family has raised over £3,000. The page describes Olivia as 'a bright, loving, and unforgettable soul' and says 'any contribution, no matter how small will help ease the financial burden'.
Police Scotland said: 'Around 11.40am on Monday, November 17, we received a report of an 11-year-old girl taken unwell in the Helensburgh area... The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.'
