Texas Judge Denies Bail to Teen Who Pepper-Sprayed Family on Riverboat
Judge denies bail to teen who pepper-sprayed family

A furious Texas judge has denied jail release to a 17-year-old girl who allegedly unleashed pepper spray on a family aboard a San Antonio riverboat while she was already on probation. Kasidy Luz Trevino was told by Judge William 'Cruz' Shaw III that she had been "on the riverwalk acting a fool."

The River Walk Confrontation

The incident occurred on November 15 at around 8:30pm as the boat travelled along the popular San Antonio River Walk. According to a police report viewed by the Daily Mail, the confrontation began when the boat's operator asked Trevino to turn down the volume of music playing from her phone.

After the operator stalled the vessel, Trevino reportedly began to "verbally threaten" other passengers. In a TikTok video that has since garnered millions of views, she is heard aggressively challenging a woman who was filming her, saying: "Stop recording me, b**ch, or I'll slap you in your s**t."

Despite attempts by a companion to pull her away, the teenager continued her profane rant before allegedly deploying pepper spray. Eight individuals were hit, including a young boy seen clutching his eyes in pain and a woman holding a toddler.

A Harsh Judicial Rebuke

Facing the court, Trevino was met with stern words from Judge Shaw. "You were on my probation," the irritated judge told the teen. It remains unclear what her original probation was for, but she was actively serving a juvenile sentence at the time of the riverboat attack.

The judge's refusal to grant her release means Trevino will remain in custody as she faces serious new charges. These include assault causing bodily injury and injury to a child, elderly, or disabled person with intent.

Identification and Arrest

Trevino fled the scene immediately after the alleged attack. However, her identity was soon established after her own probation officer and a police officer recognised her from the widely circulated video footage. Crime Stoppers also received multiple tips from the public naming her as the suspect.

Additional video evidence showed the assailant, with what appeared to be a pepper spray canister attached to her purse, standing on a bridge and spraying the boat as it passed underneath.

Kasidy Luz Trevino is scheduled to return to court on January 8 for the next stage of proceedings, where she will answer to the enhanced charges stemming from her alleged actions on the River Walk.
