Jeremy Clarkson has admitted that his dramatic hospital dash, shown in the finale of Clarkson's Farm Season 5, was entirely his own fault. The former Top Gear presenter, 66, revealed that he suffered a serious medical emergency after restarting blood-thinning medication without consulting his doctor.
Clarkson's Cancer Journey on Screen
The fifth series of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video took a devastating turn in the final two episodes when Jeremy disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis to Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland. In the finale, he was seen lying in a hospital bed, telling viewers: 'If this is all successful, I'll see you for season six, and if it isn't, I won't. Take care, everyone.'
Jeremy has now confirmed he is in remission, but not without enduring alarming health scares. He confessed in an interview with the Sunday Times: 'That was horrific and it was all my own fault.'
The Cause of the Emergency
Jeremy explained that he had been on blood-thinning medication for heart issues and had to stop during his cancer treatment. 'Two or three weeks after the cancer operation, I thought I'd better put myself back on those blood thinners,' he said. 'Big mistake, huge. It [resulted in] a very big emergency in the middle of the night.'
He added: 'I'm not even going to go into the treatment that was required as a result of that, because it was horrible. I didn't ask a doctor, I just thought, 'I'm sure it will be all right to go back on blood thinners.''
Remission and Recovery
Thankfully, Jeremy has confirmed to The Sunday Times that he took a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test two months ago, which revealed no signs of cancer. This has paved the way for a sixth series of Clarkson's Farm, which is now well underway. Jeremy announced via Instagram that filming was taking place at Diddly Squat.
He told his followers: 'So, bit of a year. But, I am delighted to tell you that Season 6 of Clarkson's Farm is currently being filmed. It's in production. And that's particularly good news for me because... well, if you know, you know. And, if you don't know, you need to watch Season 5.'
Lifestyle Changes Post-Scares
As for how he is maintaining his health following his recent scares, Jeremy revealed he now drives at a slower pace, walks more frequently, and has even incorporated vegetarian meals into his diet. Clarkson's Farm is available to stream on Prime Video.
