Police are investigating the death of 13-year-old Madison Richardson, who died on November 24 after emergency services were called to an address in Manchester. A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of harassment following allegations made in the days before her death. He has since been bailed as inquiries continue.
Madison, described by her family as having a 'heart of gold', was taken to hospital but died. Greater Manchester Police are working to establish the full circumstances, including whether anyone else's actions contributed to her death. Detective Inspector Andrew Day said: 'Madison's death is utterly heartbreaking for her friends and family, and I know that they are continuing to grieve as they face their first Christmas without her.'
In a tribute, her family said: 'Maddie was a bubbly, loving character, she made everything into a joke, and she lit up every room that she was in. Maddie had a laugh that everyone will remember her for.' They also praised her passion for art and her protective nature towards her siblings.
James Docherty, executive headteacher at Teenage Kicks school in Failsworth, remembered Madison as a 'wonderfully creative young girl' who 'saw the world through colours, ideas, and imagination'. He added: 'Maddie will forever be part of our school family, and she will be carried in our memories with love, pride, and endless appreciation for the light she brought into our lives.'
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they seek answers for Madison's family.
