Two women chased a man through a house in Milford Haven, Wales, and slashed him with knives, leaving him with serious wounds. Demi Oliver, 26, and Kelly Rees, 36, were at a property on Precelly Place with Warren Harper when neighbours reported hearing loud voices and music after a night of heavy drinking.
All three were acquainted, with Oliver and Mr Harper having previously been in a relationship and sharing a child. During the attack on 27 July 2024, Mr Harper was chased through the property and barricaded himself in the bathroom while Oliver and Rees hammered on the door.
Attack Details
Prosecution barrister Dean Pullen told Swansea Crown Court that Mr Harper attempted to leave but saw Rees, who had taken crack cocaine, standing in the kitchen brandishing a knife. As he moved to retrieve his bag, Rees slashed him on the wrist with a Stanley knife. He was also cut by Oliver, who wielded a separate knife.
Mr Harper fled upstairs and considered escaping through a window, but concluded the drop was too great. He returned downstairs and forced his way out of the property while "bleeding profusely". He was taken by ambulance to Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest with knife wounds to his wrist and arm, and later underwent surgery.
Sentencing
Both Oliver and Rees pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and appeared for sentencing on Wednesday. Barristers David Singh and Ian Ibrahim presented mitigation, but Judge Huw Rees stated both would face immediate custodial sentences, despite the incident occurring two years ago. Judge Rees said: "The victim sustained very serious injuries, not a nick causing a superficial injury. They were two significant wounds to the victim's left wrist and arm."
Oliver, of Precelly Place, Milford Haven, received a 17-month prison sentence. Rees, of Waterloo Road, Hakin, who is currently serving a custodial sentence for a robbery in Milford Haven, received an additional 27-month sentence.
