A woman has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision in the Blaydon area. A significant emergency services presence, including the Great North Air Ambulance Service helicopter, attended the scene on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at the junction between the A694 and the B6317. North East Ambulance Service personnel were also at the scene, and the woman was treated before being conveyed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary by road.
Emergency response details
A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called just after 8am today (26 SEPT) to a road traffic collision at the junction of the A694 and B6317 in Blaydon. We dispatched a rapid response paramedic, air ambulance, ambulance crew, a clinical team leader and a specialist paramedic. We treated one woman on scene before conveying her to Newcastle RVI Hospital."
Air ambulance involvement
A Great North Air Ambulance Service figure also confirmed the charitably-run service's involvement. They said: "Our critical care team was activated at 8.18am to reports of a road traffic collision on the A694 near Blaydon. We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 8.33am."
"Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient. The patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team."
