A 32-year-old pregnant woman, Manisha Mansuri, was killed with a sickle in Mahoba district, India, after a dispute with her husband, Hanif. The accused, who was intoxicated, allegedly attacked her on the head and neck, causing her death at the scene. He then called police claiming an unidentified person was responsible, but the couple's five-year-old son contradicted his account during investigation.
Police said Hanif returned home heavily drunk on Saturday night and argued with his wife. When she objected, he used a sickle to repeatedly strike her. After the killing, he contacted emergency services. Station House Officer Praveen Kumar Singh arrived and interviewed the son, who provided a conflicting version of events.
The victim's brother, Rafiq Mansuri, stated that Manisha had faced continuous harassment over dowry demands and Hanif's alcohol addiction since their marriage in 2021. He alleged that Hanif sold a large portion of land to fund his drinking habit and that Manisha had been forced to stay at her parental home for nine months after filing a case against him in 2024. She returned after promises of change, but the violence persisted.

Villagers described Hanif as erratic and quarrelsome, with most keeping their distance. Circle Officer Kulpahar Anurudh Singh confirmed the accused was taken into custody and the body sent for postmortem. He said: "Further strict legal action is being taken on the basis of forensic evidence and the post-mortem report."
