A woman has accused three men of kidnapping and gang-raping her after her friends managed to escape, according to reports. The alleged victim was walking along Bhurarani Road in the Indian state of Uttarakhand on Saturday night with one female and two male friends when they were stopped by three men on motorbikes, she said.
Kidnapping and escape
The men forcibly took the four people to the village of Gadarpur on their bikes, while continuously threatening them, according to reports. Along the way, two of the four managed to jump off the motorcycles and flee, leaving only the victim and one of her male companions.
Sexual assault
After reaching Gadarpur, the bikers dropped off her friend and took her to a secluded area where they took turns raping her, the woman told police. She said they held her captive all night before leaving her near the Metropolis underpass on Sunday morning, as per ETV Bharat.
The alleged victim then managed to make contact with her friends and local authorities, after which she was subject to a medical examination and recorded a police statement.
Investigation
Vibhav Saini, circle officer for the nearby city of Bazpur, said CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas were being examined as part of an ongoing investigation. Mr Saini added: "Simultaneously, the sequence of events is being pieced together based on the questioning of the victim and other individuals."
He continued: "The accused have been identified, and continuous raids are being conducted to apprehend them."
