A woman from Cardiff died after crashing into multiple vehicles on a busy road, an inquest opening has heard. Leanne Borley, from Trowbridge, was pronounced dead at the scene following a crash on the A48 near Llanederyn last week.
Crash details
A brief hearing at Pontypridd Coroner's Court on Tuesday heard the 41-year-old was driving her vehicle along the A48 eastbound towards Llanederyn. Shortly after 6.30pm, Ms Borley attempted to exit the dual carriageway via the slip road, when the collision occurred.
The inquest was told she collided with the rear of a vehicle which was waiting in a queue at the roundabout. Her vehicle then collided with two other vehicles before coming to a rest.
Police investigation
Ms Borley was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified by a police officer. A post-mortem examination was carried out at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. The hearing was told no provisional cause of death has been provided.
South Wales Police previously said it is investigating the crash. The stretch of the A48 was closed for around 12 hours for collision investigation work.
Appeal for witnesses
Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact the force. A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the A48 eastbound slip road at Llanedeyrn at around 6.40pm on Monday, August 3 following a report of a collision involving a van and a car.
"A 41-year-old woman from Trowbridge, Cardiff died at the scene. Her family has been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
"An investigation into the collision is currently underway. Any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage who is yet to speak to officers is asked to get in touch by calling 101 or reporting online quoting reference 2600251702."
