Husband alerted hotel staff

The woman's husband alerted hotel staff, reportedly tearfully telling them that his wife had done something "outrageous". The couple are understood to have been guests at the hotel.

Hotel security rushed to the scene and found that the woman had fallen around 150ft (over 45 metres). Emergency services were called and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police investigation opened

A police investigation has been opened into the death. The Mail reported that her husband was arrested.

The incident comes one month after a British tourist drowned after being swept away by strong waves while in the same resort town. The man, 60, was swimming with his children at San Miguelito beach and reportedly got into difficulty after entering the water despite a red flag warning. His two children were rescued, but he was pulled from the sea unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene.
