A woman and her teenage daughter were gang raped in a horrific alleged attack after a group of men broke into their house in Cox's Bazar, southeast Bangladesh. The gang reportedly cut through a window grille at the family's home before looting gold ornaments and cash.
Incident Details
Police are investigating the incident, which occurred on June 8. According to Bangladesh's Daily Star newspaper, the attack happened at approximately 2:30 am in the Dolnighona area while the 40-year-old woman's husband was away for work.
The victims were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for further treatment. The 15-year-old victim suffered severe blood loss and remains in a critical condition.
Arrests Made
Six men have reportedly been arrested and are due to be interrogated. Police are continuing their investigation.

In Dhaka, Bangladesh's capital, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from her family home before being locked inside a public toilet and raped. She was taken to hospital suffering from bleeding and later discharged after receiving comprehensive medical care. Sunamganj Superintendent of Police A B M Zakir Hossain confirmed that two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with that incident.
In India, authorities are investigating a gang rape of a 41-year-old woman on June 3 in the Davangere region. A video of the assault was allegedly circulated on WhatsApp groups. The victim told police she had left home after an argument and was walking to her parents' home when two men approached her. They allegedly gave her a drink laced with sedatives, causing her to fall unconscious, before she was taken to a farm and attacked by 10 people.
