A motorcyclist who died following a crash involving a bus in Wigan has been named as Luke Hill. The 28-year-old tragically died in hospital after the collision on Wigan Road, in Ashton-in-Makerfield, last Thursday night (August 6).
Emergency response
Emergency services were called to the scene, at the junction of Alexandra Road, at 11.54pm. Hill was rushed to hospital from the scene but sadly died from his injuries.
The crash involved an Arriva North rail replacement bus. Greater Manchester Police said the bus driver remained at the scene and is supporting the investigation.
Arriva statement
A spokesperson for Arriva North said last Friday: "We are aware of a collision involving one of our rail replacement buses and a motorcycle on Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, in the early hours of this morning. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident. We are cooperating fully with Greater Manchester Police to support their investigation."
Appeal for witnesses
Anyone with information about the crash has been urged to come forward. A GMP spokesperson added: "Officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have saw the moments leading up to this incident, or anyone who has mobile phone or dash cam footage, to come forward and assist our investigation."
